A vibrant collaboration reminiscent of the iconic Tag Yacht-Timer watches sported in sailing regattas of the ’60s and ’70s.

Brand Rowing Blazers has teamed up with the renowned Bamford Watch Department, TAG Heuer, and the vintage watch expert Eric Wind of Wind Vintage. They have crafted an exclusive timepiece—the limited edition 42mm “Yacht-Timer” Carrera. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Heuer Yacht-Timer that adorned the wrists of sailors in the thrilling regattas of the ’60s and ’70s, this new watch puts a contemporary spin on the classic.
The design pays homage to the Yacht-Timer’s distinctive colour palette: a crisp white dial, vibrant blue text, and accents of red, blue, green, and pale yellow. What sets it apart is the ingenious reimagining of the 1-minute sections from the original Yacht-Timer, now transformed into register colours for the Chronograph in the Rowing Blazers Carrera. Adding an extra layer of visual intrigue, the Rowing Blazers Carrera embraces the Yacht-Timer’s use of cross-hatching on the colours.
The original Heuer, a favourite among competitive sailors in regattas, left an indelible mark on Carlson. The watch’s sporting legacy and vibrant colour palette, featuring a white dial, vivid blue text, and red, blue, green, and pale yellow shades found a new canvas in a Rowing Blazer project. In collaboration with Eric Wind of Wind Vintage and George Bamford of Bamford Watch Department, this dynamic trio embarked on crafting a timepiece that pays homage to the original’s legacy while infusing it with a distinctively modern twist.

The stainless-steel Carrera case, boasting a handsome 42mm diameter, is paired elegantly with a matching steel bracelet. The dial artfully incorporates elements of the original colour scheme, strategically placing blue, red, and green in three subdials. A white canvas forms the backdrop, adorned with a blue ring that harmoniously ties the entire ensemble together. The absence of numerals is a thoughtful choice, allowing the pastel kaleidoscope of this watch to take centre stage without distraction.
This unique timepiece not only captures the essence of maritime competition but also serves as a fusion of timeless elegance and contemporary flair. As a side note, it’s worth mentioning that Bamford Watch Department and TAG Heuer are no strangers to collaborations, having recently unveiled a limited-edition Japanese racing watch just last month. The synergy of these creative forces promises a timekeeping masterpiece that transcends both style and functionality.

“I’ve always loved the Heuer Yacht-Timer — both for its sporting origins and its very Rowing Blazers colour scheme, but also because there’s something very Roy Lichtenstein about the way the colours are rendered,” explains Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson, who designed the watch with Bamford and Wind. “Eric loves vintage Heuer stopwatches too, and we’ve dreamed of producing our watch in the style of these amazing pieces. It’s a dream to work with TAG Heuer and Bamford to make this a reality.”

The visionary behind the Bamford Watch Department George Bamford said, “I’ve always cherished the Rowing Blazers brand, and it’s been a true honour collaborating with them to bring this distinctive timepiece to life.” This exclusive collaboration is not one to miss, as only 99 of these vibrant masterpieces will be made available for purchase. These limited-edition are priced at $8,900. They can only be secured exclusively at Rowing Blazers’ official website on Friday, October 13.
