As seasons change from the Summer season to the brisk winds of Fall, it’s time to switch up your cologne because summer fragrances are too sweet, fruity and aquatic. Our preferred scents for the Fall seasons evolve with the environment around us. Opting for heater tones of woods and greenery, the approaching scents recall warming notes and igniting aromas. You need woody tones like cedar, sandalwood, and oud. You’ll also want some cosy spices and soothing tobacco.

During Winter-weather, when the temperatures are low, and the air is dry, your fragrances need to be able to push more to create a scented bubble around you.

There are classic men’s colognes you can wear almost any time of year and others which are definitely essential for the Fall season as they embrace rich, woodsy, deep scents, maybe tobacco, leather, oak or a bit of all three. Drawing upon several sophisticated brands, we’ve rounded up the best fragrances to put on your radar.

Dolce & Gabbana The One

What is it about this shockingly affordable cologne that we love so much? Maybe it’s the way this fragrance’s package, or maybe (or definitely) its notes and tones. Dolce & Gabbana The One is a Woody Spicy fragrance for men, which was launched in 2008. Top notes are grapefruit, coriander and basier; middle notes are ginger, cardamom, orange blossom; base notes are amber, tobacoo, and cedar.

Tom Ford Private Blend Tuscan Leather

The presentation of this incredible fragrance is impressive enough. Launched in 2007, Tom Ford Private Blend’s top notes are raspberry, saffron and thyme; middle notes are olibanum and jasmine; base notes are leather, suede, woody notes and amber. The fragrance is available in 50 ml and 250 ml bottles.

“Private blend is my own scent laboratory: It’s where I have the abaility to create very special, original fragrances that are unconstrained by the conventions of mainstream scent-making. Private Blend is designed with the true fragrance connoisseur in mind.” Tom Ford.

Montblanc Legend Eau de Toilette

Montblanc Legend Eau de Toilette harnesses the lavender, pineapple, bergamot and lemon verbena notes that accompany the best fall weekend excursions, and delivers it in a great package, to boot. The notes are enhanced with middle notes such as red apple, dried fruits, oak moss, geranium, coumarin and rose while the base notes include tonka, bean, and sandalwood. It’s just the cold-weather scent upgrade you need to have it right now.

Dior Homme

Fall and Winter call to mind many a scent, but Dior Homme flips to equation on its head ever so slightly with bergamot, pink pepper, and elemi notes and those complementary middle tones: cashmere wood, atlas cedar and patchouli, while its base notes include Iso E Super, Haitian vetiver and white musk. Introduced in the original version in 2005, the 2022 version “has an unmistakably virile signature that does not prevent it from developing tender, sensual accents. It basically draws the portrait of a modern man,” François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator.
