The Revuelto: Lamborghini Unveils its First V12 Hybrid Plug-in HPEV

The new Lamborghini is totally different than any car it’s ever made.

Lamborghini Revuelto

Luxury Italian sports car designer Lamborghini has unveiled its first supercar with a charging port named Revuelto, a term that means “scrambled” or “turned” in Italian. The new 2024 supercar isn’t scrambled in the traditional sense, it’s Lamborghini’s way of reintroducing the concept of a hybrid vehicle to a new global audience. The high-end vehicle manufacturer has put its unique stamp on the Revuelto. According to Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, “[The] Revuelto [takes] the experience of driving a Lamborghini to a superior level. Revuelto takes a significant step forward in terms of reactivity and responsiveness to ensure the most emotive and natural driving in every environment. Revuelto is a car delivering the highest performance but our objective right from the start was to confirm it at the very summit of driving emotions.”

The vehicle is a plug-in hybrid and, while it still has a V12 gasoline engine, it also has three electric motors. Its V-12 engine combines with the Revuelto’s trio of electric motors to generate a blockbuster 1,0001 horsepower paired with a double-clutch gearbox that makes its debut on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini for maximum road performance. Lamborghini notes a zero-to-62-mph time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. Lamborghini has partnered with Bridgestone, developing bespoke Potenza Sport tires to enhance the new car’s sporty and high-speed capabilities. Additionally, the Revuelto comes with a completely new Human Machine Interface (HMI) system consisting of three displays with 3D graphics, animations, widgets, and styling.

The new Revuelto will set you back $542,000 – about 500,000 euros, but few Lamborghini lovers seem to be complaining. Unofficially, orders are rumoured to already be stacking up for the new supercar hybrid, but delivery times are long, at about 18-to-24 months.

The car will offer driving sensations ranging from loud and viciously punchy to smooth and silent. There’s a menu of 13 different drive modes altogether. Front-wheel-drive low-speed cruising will be fully electric, while high-powered aggressive track driving will employ all available power from the V12 engine and the electric motors. “With the Revuelto, Lamborghini has established a new benchmark in performance, on-board technology, and driving pleasure. The ultimate thrill provided by the Revuelto is reached thanks to a powertrain that delivers 1015 CV total, combining the power of a brand-new 12-cylinder internal combustion engine with three high-density electric motors and a groundbreaking transversal dual clutch e-gearbox. The power of hybridization is harnessed to take performance and driving emotions to an unprecedented level.” – From LAMBORGHINI.

“It is a unique and innovative car but at the same time faithful to our DNA: the V12 is an iconic symbol of our super sports heritage and history. Revuelto was born to break the mold, combining a new 12-cylinder engine with hybrid technology, creating the perfect balance between delivering the emotion that our clients want with the necessity to reduce emissions.” – LAMBORGHINI.

According to the company, the hybrid luxury sports car, Revuelto, will officially kick off in 2024.
