This new release is wonderfully rich and sweet and exceptional in every way.
The Jack Daniel Distillery is considered one of the most important distillery brands. Over the years, it has released some truly killer new bottles of Jack Daniel’s, covering everything from bottled-in-bond masterpieces to American single malt, blended American whiskeys, and age-stated expressions of their classic Old No. 7.
Now, the distillery brand has announced the release of its new 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey along with Batch 2 of its 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey, which is the latest in Jack Daniel’s Aged series, an annual release of age-stated expressions that celebrate the brand’s heritage. This exceptional addition to the company’s line-up marks the first time the brand has released a whiskey of this age. Back in November of 2021, Jack Daniel’s shook the American whiskey world with the release of Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old, which was so good that it went on to top tons of “best of” lists.
Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey is crafted using the brand’s signature charcoal mellowing process, which imparts a smooth and refined character to the spirit. Aged in new American oak barrels for 12 years, the whiskey acquires a deep, rich flavour profile that sets it apart from the brand’s other offerings.
The new Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey is offered at 107 proof (53.5% abv), much bigger than the minimum 80 proof of Old No. 7. It comes from a mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. The profile of the whiskey is said to be sweet and creamy “brulée”, with notes of pipe tobacco, seasoned oak, rum raisin ice cream, and butterscotch, followed by notes of espresso, caramel apple, and a whisper of menthol on the finish. The Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2 is offered at 97 proof (48.5% abv), featuring oak forward with layers of dark fruit, leather, blackberries, and bittersweet cocoa.
“The Jack Daniel Distillery is one of the most complete whiskey distilleries in the world, and we’re fortunate to have a deep history to draw inspiration from and craft premium whiskeys in a way that stays true to our heritage of quality and innovation,” said master distiller Chris Fletcher in a statement announcing the new bottles.
“We released our first age-stated whiskey since the early 1900s in the series about a year ago and were thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response. We know there is a lot of excitement for our Aged Series, and we can’t wait to share Batch 2 of our 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey along with the first release of our 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey.”
Both whiskeys are available (in 700 ml bottles instead of 750) from retailers like Caskers, with SRPs of $80 for the 12 and $70 for the 10. With its complex flavour profile and limited availability, this highly anticipated release is sure to captivate whiskey lovers around the globe.
