Pac-Man might need to watch his back—there’s a new Ghost in town.

Rolls-Royce has unveiled one of its most unexpected and delightfully quirky creations to date: the Black Badge Ghost Gamer Edition, a one-of-one masterpiece that blends high luxury with the unmistakable nostalgia of classic arcade culture. It’s a combination that sounds almost improbable, yet the result is a stunning display of craftsmanship, personality, and pure Bespoke imagination.
Created by Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke division, the Gamer Edition takes its cues from the 8-bit visuals that defined late ’70s and early ’80s gaming. According to Rolls-Royce, the team spent a month fully immersing themselves in the golden age of arcades—studying games, promotional artwork, cabinet graphics, and even the atmosphere of vintage arcade halls. That research sparked a design identity that feels both playful and meticulously refined, transforming the Ghost into a rolling tribute to digital nostalgia.

From the outside, the Black Badge Ghost Gamer Edition immediately stands apart. Its two-tone exterior pairs Salamanca Blue on the main body with Crystal over Diamond Black on the upper section, creating a sleek interpretation of classic arcade cabinet color schemes. But the real showstopper is the “Cheeky Alien,” a pixel-inspired character composed of 89 hand-painted 3mm squares. Perched above the coachline, it’s a subtle yet unmistakable wink to the retro theme—one that sets the stage for what awaits inside.
Open the doors, and the interior reveals itself as a full celebration of geek culture rendered through the lens of ultra-luxury craftsmanship. Rolls-Royce has scattered clever 8-bit Easter eggs throughout the cabin, beginning with the embroidered “Player 1” through “Player 4” seatbacks done in neon pixel-style lettering. The headrests also feature that mischievous “Cheeky Alien,” tying the theme together with humor and charm.
However, the pièce de résistance is found between the rear seats in an area Rolls-Royce calls the Waterfall. This section features stainless steel flying saucers inlaid over a hand-painted lunar landscape inspired by classic arcade artwork. The piece may look simple at first glance, but it reportedly required over two weeks of development, multiple paint tests, and a mix of brushwork and sponging techniques to achieve the right nostalgic texture.

Above the lunar scene, the starlight headliner gets an 8-bit twist of its own. Instead of Rolls-Royce’s signature “shooting star” effect, the Gamer Edition showcases a “Pixel Blaster” formation of 80 bitmapped battlecruisers. As the fiber-optic lights animate, the ships appear to fire pixelated laser beams across the ceiling. The dashboard also contains a gunship built from 85 individual stars, which illuminate in sequence to simulate movement—again turning light technology into a playful digital motif.
More surprises await as passengers explore the finer details. The “Cheeky Alien” makes a final cameo on the rear picnic table, and the illuminated doorsills greet occupants with playful phrases like “PRESS START,” “LOADING…,” “LEVEL UP,” and “INSERT COIN.” For a brand famous for understatement, the Gamer Edition feels refreshingly bold—yet still unmistakably Rolls-Royce.
Under the pixel-polished exterior, this Ghost remains a Black Badge at heart. That means it’s powered by the high-performance version of Rolls-Royce’s legendary 6.75-liter V12 engine, delivering 603 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. The result: a 0–60 mph time of just 4 seconds, a figure that feels surreal for a sedan of this size and luxury. The Black Badge treatment also includes performance-focused chassis tuning and a more assertive aesthetic, balancing the Ghost’s serene comfort with a sharper driving personality.

While the base price of a Ghost hovers around $420,000, it’s impossible to estimate what the Gamer Edition ultimately cost. Bespoke creations of this scale involve countless hours of specialized labor, unique design development, and one-off artwork—each of which adds significantly to the final price tag. But for the unnamed client, the result is more than just a customized car. It’s an immersive world—a luxury time capsule capturing the excitement of pressing “start” on an arcade machine for the very first time.

As Rolls-Royce Bespoke designer Joshua McCandless put it, the mission was not only to recreate the color palette and energy of retro gaming, but also to ensure that stepping inside the Ghost would feel like stepping into a memory—a spark of childhood wonder, reimagined through the best craftsmanship the modern automotive world can offer.

The Black Badge Ghost Gamer Edition is proof that luxury doesn’t always need to be serious. Sometimes, it can be fun, nostalgic, and gloriously pixelated—and still unmistakably Rolls-Royce.
