Conceived by the boatbuilder responsible for Jeff Bezos’ $500 million sailing megayacht, Aeolus takes its name from the Greek god of wind.
The Netherlands-based shipyard, Oceanco, has revealed a 430-foot concept design named Aeolus. The exteriors of the yacht were crafted by Giles Taylor. The interiors were designed by Njord from Bergman Design House.
Aeolus is a concept yacht that embodies Oceanco’s commitment to sustainability, aligning with its NXT initiative aimed at promoting innovation and sustainability. The yacht draws inspiration from J Class sailing yachts, and its name pays homage to the Greek god of wind.
“Her curves do not make her overly feminine because there is a masculine quality to her bold, forthright architecture,” Taylor stated in a press release. “Apart from the deck surfaces themselves, not one surface is flat or brutally geometric, which provides a unique aesthetic that sets Aeolus apart.”
The interior design of Aeolus features a vision that embraces sustainability and the use of environmentally friendly materials, including biomaterials. Notably, Desserto, a vegan leather substitute derived from climate-positive cactus plants, and Oliveri Homes, which employs non-toxic techniques and dyes for material production, serve as two prime examples. In addition, Oceanco collaborated with technical partners ABB and MTU to develop a versatile energy transition platform, demonstrating foresight in anticipation of a net-zero emissions future amidst the ever-changing landscape of technology.
Among the notable features is an inventive hull design that features a fascinating opening near the bow, three decks adorned with glass cladding, and a spacious private oasis tailored for an adventurous owner who possesses the ambition to embark on unprecedented endeavours. Just below the upper deck, where the master suite, characterized by its cosy and intimate ambience, offers panoramic views, a sunken bath, a secluded seating area, and a picturesque aft deck.
The main deck features a swimming pool and relaxation area, complemented by stairs that lead down to the beach club. The main deck lounge serves as a welcoming space for all passengers, guiding them up a staircase into the inner atrium. Located beside the gym and an open exterior atrium, two guest suites can be found.
On the lower deck, in proximity, two additional guest suites and two VIP suites are located, offering easy access to a beach club equipped with fold-down terraces for waterfront lounging. Strategically placed beneath the pool on the main deck, there is a sit-up bar that adds yet another captivating element to the overall design.
