Cielo is Italian for sky – what better name for a supercar that promises wind in their adventures?

The new 2023 MC20 Cielo is a convertible drive sports supercar, an open-top version of Maserati’s new(ish) MC20 that truly promises wind to any adventure, an elegant car design, and the possibility to enjoy nature rather than just sitting without looking to the sky.
Cielo is Italian for the sky and what better name for a car that captures the beauty of glorious sunshine than Cielo, isn’t it? Debuted as a coupe in September 2020, it was designed to have a convertible version available alongside the hard top from the very beginning of the design phase. It also used a carbon chassis fibre tub with extruded aluminium front and rear subframes. The exterior of the MC20 supercar is almost carbon fibre, while on the coupe, the roof is carbon, too.
The vehicle is precisely engineered to include key aspects that make up a great supercar while keeping a stylish, classic touch balance. In the case of the latest MC20 version, its interior boasts sporty seats that are placed very low. Moreover, that carbon roof panel has been replaced by an electrochromic glass panel, which can turn from clear to opaque when an electrical current is passed through it. That is to say, the car includes an electrochromic glass roof when the weather calls for it and then the full open-air experience when the cielo-with-a-small-c cooperates.
The convertible mechanism allows the vehicle to fold and stop down the roof entirely in just w12 seconds. Besides, the MC20 vehicle has got vertically angled LED headlamps upfront and the signature Maserati grille. Towards the side, it gets very smooth and clean lines that flow into the rear, and that’s where one will find the large air intake on the shoulders. At the back, it features tail lamps and exhaust tips. What also grabs the most attention are the doors when they are open. The MC20 Cielo uses butterfly doors that open vertically and forward at the same time making it relatively easy to get inside the car.

“Clean, fluid lines dominate the overall design vision of the MC20 Cielo and with the top open or closed nothing from an aesthetic point of view has been compromised, only enhanced. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics and wind-tunnel technology, the results have helped sculpt the MC20 Cielo’s purposeful stance and pure sporting soul. Thanks to unique in its class PLDC glass, with the sky above, even when closed, you can switch from matte mode to clear mode in an instant with the Cielo button.” – From Maserati.

The MC20 version also uses the V6 Nettuno engine with an output of 621 HP, a pre-combustion system first developed for Formula 1. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and power is sent to the rear wheels only. The engine boasts a power output of 207 HP per litre, while its lightweight chassis and immense power allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds (it can reach a top speed of 200 mph).
The latest MC20 Cielo features some stunning and significant changes that make the new convertible supercar simple but classic-elegant at its finest. It takes luxury to another level. It is currently on sale for 300,500 euros, which is 35,112 more than the closed-roof version. It is at a higher price than a Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder or a Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.
