Amalgam Collections, a luxury scale model manufacturer, has added the Ferrari 296 GT3 to its collection. The 1:8 scale version of the 2023 24 Hours of Nurburgring winner and its roadgoing 296 GTB and GTS variants boast a painstakingly accurate replication of the original supercar, complete with intricate details and a price tag starting at $18,090.

The Amalgam creation presents a compelling case for investing a sum equivalent to the cost of an economical car in a model. The Bristol-based company crafts exceptionally intricate models in workshops located in the UK, China, and Hungary.

The process for the 296 GT3 involved around 3,300 hours dedicated to designing and developing the production tooling. This encompassed tasks such as 3D printing, meticulous hand-finishing of numerous samples, and mould production preceding the prototyping phase. Each 22-inch-long replica demands approximately 350 hours for sanding, fitting, and painting.

The outcome is an incredibly accurate reproduction that can easily deceive you into believing you’re gazing at a scaled-down version of the actual vehicle. This resulted in a deeply detailed model of the 296 GT3, including reproductions of its magnesium gearbox case, six-pot, and cockpit harness. The firm also crafted racy aero bits like an aggressive front splitter and carbon fibre rear wing to increase downforce at speed.
