The first drink in the ‘Decade Series’ selection from Heaven’s Door is the high-rye straight bourbon whiskey.
Certain things tend to improve over time, whether it’s the everlasting music of Bob Dylan or the phenomenal Heaven’s Door Whiskey product line, which has recently unveiled the second edition of its Decade Series. This brand has earned several accolades, and it launched the first version of the Decade Series, namely Release #01, last year. The latest edition, also known as Decade Series II, is a range of limited-edition American whiskeys, which joins the collection of outstanding whiskey offerings by the revered musician. Each whisky is aged for at least a decade. The series debuts with its first product release: a 10-year-old high-rye straight bourbon whiskey, which can be purchased online at a suggested price of $109.99.
According to Heaven’s Door, their whiskey obtains a highly nuanced and extremely smooth taste due to the decade-long aging process in oak barrels. This exceptional flavour is attributed to the mash bill of 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley.
Alex Moore, the Spirits Master Blender at Heaven’s Door, pointed out that the straight rye whiskey, made from specially chosen 10-year-old whiskeys, has a unique flavour that exemplifies their unyielding dedication to the art of crafting whiskey products. The resulting “distinctive flavour profile” is a testament to their commitment towards creating craft whiskey of the highest quality.
“Decade Series II delivers a complex tasting experience with an array of flavours, culminating in a long and lingering finish,” Moore added.
Bottled at 100 proof, the whiskey offers a unique blend of fragrances. The aroma delivers maple, poached pear, and banana notes, while the palate presents a rich combination of toffee and bitter chocolate.
The drink concludes with a lengthy, velvety finish, featuring delicate touches of leather and earthiness. Interestingly, although this is the first product release from the Decade Series, Heaven’s Door began the laborious process of selecting small-batch barrels from regional producers over a decade ago, demonstrating the remarkable amount of dedicated effort put into the creation of this series.
“We’ve been patiently waiting on our barrels of aged liquid to mature to the optimal flavor profile for many years, and we are thrilled to release them for our fans to enjoy,” says Heaven’s Door, in a release. “Our first release is whiskey the world has not yet tasted. This Tennessee bourbon has a mash bill that’s non-traditional to all other whiskeys ever created from the state, with 22% rye and without charcoal mellowing. The distillation is much more reminiscent of what you would expect from a traditional Kentucky bourbon.”
Whiskey lovers and hardcore Bob Dylan fans have reason to rejoice. Unlike a limited Dylan vinyl record, the newest prize-winning whiskey product from Heaven’s Door is readily available.
