2023 marks a momentous milestone for Aston Martin as they celebrate their 110th anniversary and 75 years of their iconic DB line. This revered lineage includes the legendary James Bond DB5, as well as every Aston Martin vehicle driven by the world’s most renowned secret agent. What better timing could there be to unveil the next vehicle to carry the illustrious DB legacy? Introducing the highly anticipated DB12.

The arrival of the DB12 is perfectly aligned with Aston Martin’s current era of unprecedented success. The British luxury car manufacturer is currently experiencing one of the most dynamic periods in its century-plus history, propelled by the remarkable performances of its Formula 1 team this season.

Symbolizing the dawn of a new era for Aston Martin, the DB12 is the first all-new sports car to be launched under the astute leadership of Lawrence Stroll. As the Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda since 2020, Stroll, a Canadian billionaire, has not only revitalized the brand’s F1 program, but also made strategic investments that have guided Aston Martin towards new heights of excellence. Additionally, the DB12 is a significant milestone for Amedeo Felisa, the CEO of Aston Martin. Felisa, formerly the CEO of Ferrari, assumed his role as the head of Aston Martin last year.

The DB12 stands as his first major project for the prestigious marque, reflecting his expertise and vision for the brand’s future. With its rich legacy, innovative design, and impeccable leadership, the DB12 is set to redefine the Aston Martin experience and captivate enthusiasts worldwide. Prepare to be enthralled by the legendary DB lineage’s newest addition as it paves the way for an exciting new era in automotive excellence.

Given the magnitude of the DB12’s significance, it was evident that this vehicle would not conform to being a “typical” Grand Tourer. Aston Martin understood the weight of expectations and set out to create a car that would surpass its closest competitors, including the Ferrari Roma, McLaren GT, and Bentley Continental GT. The DB12 boasts a remarkable 670 horsepower, surpassing the power output of its rivals.

With an impressive 800NM of torque generated by its meticulously crafted V8 Twin-Turbo engine, it’s no wonder that Aston Martin has proudly bestowed upon it the title of the world’s first “Super Tourer.” Not stopping there, they have also deemed it the “most complete and accomplished” DB model in the marque’s history, one that exudes authenticity, capability, and passion, promising a driving experience that surpasses all others. In an exclusive opportunity, we were recently invited to the breathtaking South of France to put these bold claims to the ultimate test.

The vehicle’s broad, muscular appearance draws significant inspiration from its predecessor, the DB11, while the most noteworthy alterations can be found beneath the hood (featuring a new 671-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8) or behind the sleek doors of the GT. However, according to Miles Nurnberger, the Director of Design at Aston Martin, the collective impact of the DB12’s exterior modifications — including the larger grille, the introduction of matrix-LED headlights, a more pronounced rear end, and an extended stance — results in a unique embodiment of the 75-year-old DB legacy. Notably, the car’s width stands out, instilling a sense of confidence that it should naturally maintain its grip on the road as intended, thanks to the influence of gravity.

“When a brand has as much history as Aston Martin it is important to honor the past,” says Felisa, who has quickly warmed to his new role. “Not by looking back, but by pushing on with the same energy and passion that propelled our founders 110 years ago. With the new DB12 we are reinvigorating the DB model line and reasserting Aston Martin as a maker of truly exceptional performance sports cars. By combining class-leading performance and exceptional chassis dynamics with cutting edge technology, impeccable craftsmanship and immaculate design, DB12 leads Aston Martin into a new era of excellence.”

Aston Martin states that the DB12 can accelerate from a complete stop to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds quicker than the DB11. We can confirm that this power is consistently ready and seemingly available to thrust passengers back into their seats, supposedly achieving a top speed of 202 mph for those capable and daring enough to unleash the full roaring potential of the V8 engine.

Priced at approximately $245,000 in the United States, with a remarkable 0-60 acceleration time of 3.5 seconds and a jaw-dropping top speed of 202 mph, the DB12’s figures alone make for an awe-inspiring spectacle.
