Aston Martin

Luxury British carmaker Aston Martin is worldwide known for its sports car, but in recent years, the brand has entered the interiors world through many projects like Aston Martin Residences in Miami, the skyscraper in the city, and Aston Martin’s first-ever private residence in Hudson Valley, New York. For so many carmaker brands, designing interior residences is slightly similar to designing a car. These kinds of projects prioritize the finest craftsmanship and design, and Aston Martin’s new residence project is no different.

Now, the luxury brand has announced plans for an ultra-luxe home in the sought-after area of Omotesando in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo, Japan. The property, which has been designed in collaboration with Japanese real estate leader Vibroa, is called “No 001 Minami Aoyama” and is designed bespoke for the company’s noteworthy clients, working in tandem with them to design the exterior. Besides, Aston Martin’s team of designers are handling the interior styling and furnishings.

“Minami Aoyama is incredibly peaceful for an area that’s right smack bang in the middle of the largest, most hyperactive city on the planet,” said Director of Partnerships Cathal Loughnane.

“Tokyo’s neighbourhoods kind of flow from one thing to the next, one type of district to another. That’s why it’s amazing. You can go from a full luxury shopping district into the quietest residential street in 100 meters, which you just don’t get anywhere in the world.”

The property itself is still under construction, and it is expected to be completed in November 2023. The striking four-story home is all clean lines, wood and glass, elements of geometry. The British automaker’s design principles – with a uniquely Japanese influence – are reflected throughout.

The renderings show plans for an ultra-contemporary and luxurious residence with multi-dimensional panels and clean lines. More importantly, it will feature an automotive gallery with open views from the main area inside the residence. More specifically, the automotive gallery can be viewed from the dining room through a glass wall. The residence will also feature eclectic galleries, cafes, boutiques housed in extraordinarily creative buildings, and an art museum that sits behind a wall of bamboo.

Huge windows will create seamless transitions to the outside world. It’s a rarity in a city where space is at such a premium. Inside, dark wood, lots of natural light and a spacious floor plan will create the feel of a minimalist sanctuary. There will also be amenities, such as a wine cellar, home cinema, gym, private spa, an outdoor onsen-like tub, and a rooftop garden, overlooking the surrounding city.

Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, said in a press statement, “The influence of Tokyo culture, with its amazing history and style, holds an important creative space within our design studio,” and continued, “I see fashion, architectural, and even culinary references being considered by our team when developing their work, so its presence can really be felt within our practice. We thought we would return the favour through our first ultra-luxury collaboration in Asia with Vibroa by tailoring our Aston Martin real estate design principles specifically to the No. 001 Minami property. We’ve catered to the senses, using a holistic combination of elements and materials to create a calm and relaxing space for (the buyer) to retreat.”
